When I was taking pastel drawing lessons from Jerry Brown, the drawing of these pears, according to Jerry, was a turning-a-corner feat for me. I had finally grasped the concept of multi-layering colors to create the many hues found in these ripening, softening pears. In celebration, my friend Beth purchased the original to hang in her kitchen.
